Thursday, December 12th will be an inaugural event for The Bluestone: David Allan Coe will perform on our stage for the first time!DAC

“Rebel,” “Outlaw,” call him what you will, David Allan Coe is a music legend and a larger-than-life entertainer. Coe was one of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the 1970’s, producing a large cult following over the decades. Coe’s biggest hits include “Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile,” “Willie, Waylon, and Me,” “The Ride,” “You Never Even Called Me by My Name,” “She Used to Love Me a Lot,” and “Longhaired Redneck.” Coe released his debut album, Penitentiary Blues, in 1968. He drew stylistically from rock traditions, blues, as well as country, producing an “Outlaw” reactionary sound aligned with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and other Texas country artists. Coe was known for his live-performance theatrics (early in his career he wore a rhinestone suit and a Lone Ranger mask and called himself the “Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy,”) his unabashed lyric style, and for providing hits for musicians like Billie Jo Spears, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson, George Jones, and more Nashville heavy-hitters. Coe has been a colorful character and crucial part of country music history for decades. His performance on December 12th is not to be missed!

Opening for Mr. Coe will be Wyatt McCubbin, an up-and-coming country singer whose talent goes well beyond his 18 years of age! McCubbin, who is himself influenced by the Outlaw country traditionalists, consistently puts on great performances, and his new album Bootleg, is now available on iTunes and Spotify. Click here to listen on Spotify.Wytt

Cliff Cody, a local favorite with a killer voice, will also open on December 12th. Cody recently played at The Bluestone opening for Matt Mason at the end of November, and has also shared the stage with musicians such as Aaron Lewis, Gary Allen, and many more! Keep up with Cliff on his website .
