Eli Young Band, LOCASH, and Muscadine Bloodline February, 9th 2018 Concert Review
Last night, The Bluestone was packed with country music fans for a sold out show featuring upcoming duo, Muscadine Bloodline along with the established acts, LoCash and Eli Young Band.
This was only the second time Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton of Muscadine Bloodline have taken the stage in Columbus, Ohio. There was an obvious excitement throughout the crowd as the boys kicked off their set with their song, “Depending on The Night” from their EP. During each song, the crowd is met with fantastic harmonies from the two and guitar solos from Stanton. A cover of “Fishin’ in the Dark” and a performance of their recent single, “Movin’ On” kept the crowd enthusiastic and dancing. With just two songs of their set left, Muscadine Bloodline took a moment to thank the crowd for taking interest in their next song that helped to launch their career. As the boys continued into the song “Porch Swing Angel,” there was an indescribable feeling throughout the swaying crowd, which lit up the stage with their cellphones as Stanton sang “I wanna tell her how I feel, but I don’t wanna scare her away.” Their set ended with “Ginny,” a song about an ex-love that did not end on the best of terms.
Between sets, an impressive line formed at the merchandise table for a quick meet and greet with the Muscadine Bloodline boys. Others visited the bar or friends as excitement for LoCash to take the stage could be felt throughout the crowd.
Chris Lucas and Preston Brust of LoCash brought an uncanny energy to the stage of The Bluestone. Throughout their performance, Brust and Lucas took turns playing the guitar. If Lucas was on the guitar, Brust was moving and grooving on stage, vice versa. The two have highly harmonic voices and their interaction with the crowd brought it back to the basics of entertainers feeding from the crowd’s charged energy. The boys were clearly excited about the show, as they exclaimed this was their first time selling out a concert in Columbus, Ohio. They brought a beachy feel to a chilly winter night with their song, “Drunk, Drunk.” Brust took the opportunity to cheers his drink with fans in the front row. Other notable songs played by the duo included Keith Urban’s “You Gonna Fly” and Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah,” both of which were written by Lucas and Brust. A 90’s country music medley was used to test fan’s knowledge with songs like, Joe Diffie’s “Pick Up Man,” Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee” and Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places.” Their set ended with an excited crowd dancing and yelling along to LoCash’s hit song, “I Love This Life.”
After a complete change of the stage’s set up, Eli Young Band took the stage. The crowd’s enthusiasm as the band took the stage was unbelievable. The highlight of their time on stage was their radio hits, as the crowd sang along to the indescribable vocals of the band’s front man, Mike Eli. Their stage presence was indescribable, especially lead guitarist James Young, who was often seen jumping around the stage and throwing guitar picks into the crowd. Slowing it down, Eli sang “She’s in my skin and bones, she’s my grace and glory, she’s a backroads home, she’s a long story” and touched the crowd as they listened intently to the new song from Eli Young Band’s most recent album, “Fingerprints.” When the band launched into “Drunk Last Night,” the crowd could be seen raising their drinks high into the air while screaming, dancing and singing along in excitement. Other singles like “Crazy Girl” and “Dust” acquired similar reactions from the entranced crowd.
“Sometimes you have your off days, sometimes you have more off days and it’s just one of those things,” Eli said reflecting on the band’s journey as country music artists and recognizing the importance of their fans, “thank you guys for being here tonight and singing along with us. This next one goes out to all those dreamers out there.”
The number one hit, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” generated the largest reaction from the sold-out crowd. The crowd’s impressive sing along proves that a dream can carry you to the top, as long as you keep on dreaming – even if it breaks your heart.

Grammy nominated and multi-platinum artist, Aaron Lewis, released his sophomore solo album last year on Big Machine Label Group’s DOT Records and went straight to # 1.
The former Staind front man first made his country debut in 2011 with certified gold single “Country Boy” followed by the release of his first full length solo album, The Road. “Country Boy” featured Charlie Daniels on fiddle and a booming verse from George Jones as well as Chris Young striking a balance between classic and modern country.
Lewis’ introspective, personal and relatable lyrics are proof that country music is about lifestyle and values, not necessarily where you were raised. And as Country Weekly exclaims “…make no mistake, he is a truck-drivin’, gun-totin’ country boy.” Lewis attributes country as something that has always inspired him. Growing up in rural Vermont the singer/songwriter spent summers with his WWII veteran grandfather hunting and fishing. During that time, he developed a love for the land, the woods, and the simple life, which still permeates everything he does.
And there was one specific soundtrack to those times. “I was raised on Country music,” Lewis says. “My grandfather listened to Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Hank Jr., and all of the greats.”

At just 20 years old, singer-songwriter Tucker Beathard already exudes the confidence and swagger of an established artist. It’s probably because music is in his blood. He started playing drums and guitar in a band with his brothers at 10 years old and had an early immersion into songwriting via his dad, two-time BMI “Songwriter of the Year” Casey Beathard. It was Tucker’s rebellious attitude as a teenager that inspired the lyrics for the chart-topping hit “Homeboy” recorded by Eric Church. Not long after making the decision to forgo a baseball scholarship to focus on music, Beathard signed a publishing deal with Big Machine Music and a recording contract with DOT Records. Growing up in a family that excelled at both music and sports — his father is a hit songwriter; his brothers, star quarterbacks — Big Machine Label Group recording artist Tucker Beathard has an unrelenting competitive spirit: He wakes up every day trying to write the perfect song. For Tucker, a self-taught guitarist and drummer, there’s no such thing as “good enough.” “I love anything with great melodies and I’m drawn to the little things,” Tucker says, rattling off his influences with an artist’s attention to detail. “When I listen to Led Zeppelin, I focus on John Bonham’s drums. Or Joe Walsh’s guitar licks in the Eagles. And Hank Williams Jr.’s ‘Family Tradition’ is as country songwriting as it gets.” Tucker certainly knows something about family tradition, taking cues from dad Casey Beathard, who wrote Kenny Chesney’s “Don’t Blink” and Eric Church’s “Homeboy.” The latter, in fact, was inspired by Tucker, who admits to going through his own rebellious phase. Giving up a college baseball scholarship to dive headlong into songwriting, Tucker came out better for his diverse experiences and documented those wild times in the wise-beyond-its-years “Momma and Jesus.” The track is one of many in contention for his debut album, being overseen by producer Angelo Petraglia (Kings Of Leon). Having played with artists like Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert, Tucker regularly bares his soul in front of a crowd. Despite his reserved demeanor, the stage is where he is most free — it’s his canvas to paint an honest picture of who he is, as both a songwriter and an artist. “Expressing yourself onstage and putting your emotion into each song is a feeling that is tough to match. It’s your way of letting the world know who you are,” says Tucker, who has one main goal when performing. “Whether it’s ‘My heart is broken’ or ‘Let’s party tonight,’ I want people to feel this is a real dude who knows who he is — and who says it like it is.”

Locash returns to The Bluestone
It’s an exciting time to be LOCASH these days. That might very well be one of the biggest understatements in Nashville these days. Already in their career, the duo of Preston Brust and Chris Lucas have enjoyed hit singles, sold-out concert appearances here and abroad, and have tasted the top of the chart as two of Nashville’s quickest-rising songwriters. But, to quote the old saying… You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.
Recently signing with Reviver Records, the duo is joining forces with some of the biggest names on the Country Music business landscape. Brust says they could feel the team’s energy from the first meeting. “We haven’t felt an energy like this since the day we began our journey. This feels like it has all come together –the right label head, the right promo team, it finally feels like we’ve got all of our ducks in a row for the first time in our lives. We’ve been out there doing the grass roots thing for so long, and to feel it all come together, is so encouraging.”
That part together happened at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon, where the pair worked together in the club’s DJ booth. They talked about their influences – which range from Gospel (Preston’s great-uncle was Gospel legend Albert Brumley) to Rock and Roll bands such as Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. The two also talked about their dreams of a career in the business, which have come true beyond their wildest imagination – though they are far from done writing the chapters to their story.
An integral part of that LOCASH book is their songwriting. “I think that part of what we do reflects our different personalities, and what has happened in our lives,’ says Lucas. “The passing of my father was ‘The Best Seat In The House.’ Preston and I still write things like that. But, a lot of times, as songwriters, you get to go in someone else’s world, and try to think about what you would do in a situation. Some days, I feel like hearing something upbeat, and when there’s a lot of stuff going on in the world, we want to bring something a little fresh and make people want to roll down the window and smile. Then, there are songs that you have for when you’ve loved someone so much in your life, and you don’t want to let them go – like your wife and your kids, we have those songs too. It’s day by day what we write, and I don’t think any of that has changed. I just think the sound of it has evolved. We’re so excited to put it out so people can hear it.”
