WCOL’s youngest artist to perform at this year’s Country Jam is RaeLynn. Born and raised in Texas, RaeLynn got her break competing in the second season of NBC’s The Voice. Although not the winner of the competition, RaeLynn’s performance garnered the attention of both Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. After choosing to work with Blake Shelton, RaeLynn continued her success with the show, until her highly debated elimination in the quarterfinals. Since her appearance on the show, RaeLynn has released an EP and several singles like the popular song “God Made Girls” while touring with Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert. She is currently working on the release of her debut album. RaeLynn is a great example of diversity, in both gender and age, of the artists performing at this year’s Country Jam!
The two- day festival will be hosted at the historic Legend Valley Concert Venue and Campground located on Buckeye Lake, just thirty minutes east of downtown Columbus. 2015 will mark the 3rd year that WCOL Country Jam has taken place at the venue. The festival is packed with a multitude of country music acts from classic country, southern rock country, and modern country artists.
General Admission tickets are currently available. There are several camping options available to patrons. Tickets and camping passes are on-sale now and available at www.LegendValleyFestivals.com. Camping passes are sold separately.
The WCOL Country Jam is a country festival that has occurred annually for the last 10 years. In 2013, WCOL and Bluestone Promotions formed a partnership to bring the show to the Legend Valley Music Center, a historic venue located near Buckeye Lake in Thornville, Ohio. Previous years included performers Hank Williams Jr., Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan and Tim McGraw. The venue boasts acres of campgrounds and a large field with great views of the stage. Legend Valley Music Center has functioned as a music venue since the early 1970’s, but has undergone some name changes since that time. LVMC has hosted a multitude of artists including: The Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Alabama, Journey, and Jimmy Buffett.

This year’s WCOL Country Jam headliner is none other than country megastar Eric Church! Born and raised in North Carolina, Church began playing music at the age of 13 and performing at local bars and clubs around his hometown. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in business, Church and his then fiance separated, which sent Church to Nashville to pursue his career in country music.
After being signed on to Capital Records in 2006, Church released his first album, Sinners like Me, which included his debut single and Top 20 hit, “How ‘Bout’ You”. In 2009, Church followed up his successful first album with his second, Carolina. After the release, Church broke into the Top 10 charts with songs, “Love Your Love the Most” and “Hell on a Heart”. With no hesitation, Church continued to climb the charts with new releases such as “Smoke a Little Smoke” in 2010 and ultimately scored his first number one hit with song, “Drink In My Hand”. Church has released 5 albums since his debut in 2006 with his latest titled, The Outsiders, in 2014. With multiple hits and awards including Album of The Year, Church has grown his fan base, dubbed the Church Choir, and sold out arenas all over the nation. “We wanted to show a different side and make a record that sounds like us,” Stephen Barker Liles says of Love and Theft’s boundary-pushing new album Whiskey On My Breath. “Country music has always been about honest performances and songs that mean something, and that’s the kind of record that we wanted to make.”
“We’re at a different place, in our music and in our lives, than we were when we made our earlier records, and we wanted this album to reflect that,” agrees his longstanding musical partner Eric Gunderson. “We worked harder and more passionately on this record than anything we’ve ever done. “It just so happens that I put out a song about d–ks and buttf–ks, but I do have a hell of a story,” Trey Lewis professes — and he’s not kidding.
Lewis, a legit singer-songwriter, has a NSFW viral hit on his hands, but don’t mistake “D–ked Down in Dallas” for country music parody, or Lewis himself as a comedian who sings. The Birmingham, Ala., native — who has never even been to Texas and is the type of Southern guy who drops the occasional “Yes, ma’am” in conversation — makes his living as a bar singer, and he’s hoping that after you stop chuckling at those raunchy lyrics, you’ll stick around to hear what else he has to say.
Lewis recently celebrated his 33rd birthday and has been sober for 13-and-a-half years. At the age of 19, he was in and out of jail and psychiatric wards “and all kinds of stuff,” he says. He entered treatment, got both sober and the help he needed, and moved into a halfway house after finishing his program.
“My sponsor asked me what were my hopes and dreams,” Lewis recounts, “and I said, ‘I really don’t know.’ And he said, ‘That’s what we’ve gotta do, is get you hoping and dreaming again.'”
As a child, he “always wanted to be Garth Brooks.” He’d sing with his uncles, and both his mom (a karaoke aficionado) and grandfather (a harmonica player) enjoyed music, but Lewis was, he says, quite shy.
