Morgan Wallen Turns The Bluestone “Up Down” With Ray Fulcher and Matt Chase!

Matt Chase_-15

Last night’s show kicked off with country newcomer, Matt Chase playing an acoustic show. His camouflage pants and black graphic t-shirt matched the laid-back feel he brought to The Bluestone. His debut single, “Catch Girl” delivered an attention-grabbing melody, strong lyrics and showed off his smooth vocals.

The second artist to take the stage was Ray Fulcher. If you’re a fan of Luke Combs, you’ve already had the pleasure of hearing his outstanding lyrical abilities, as he co-wrote eight of the twelve songs on Combs’ debut album. Fulcher’s setlist encompassed a few of those songs including, “Beer Can,” “Be Careful What You Wish For,” and his first number one, “When It Rains It Pours.”

Fulcher’s opening song, “Song of the Summer” brought an upbeat, groovy beach feel to the crowd. During the set he made a priority to get around the stage with an energetic demeanor, keeping the crowd excited and engaged.

For Fulcher, playing The Bluestone was an exciting moment; “The history is incredible, and the energy is very different from any venue out there,” he said.

Morgan Wallen-2

After a short break, the headliner Morgan Wallen took the stage. He is one of country music’s newcomers, but his fun-loving personality makes his show one you do not want to miss. His opening song, “Boots on the Ground” is a party song that has not yet been released. Wallen’s stage presence was infectious as he danced with the crowd and skittered across the stage with a big smile, performing his songs perfectly.

Wallen admitted that he likes to play an Eric Church song during every show and then led into Church’s “Drink A Little Drink.” The crowd became rowdy and joined in, singing along while raising their beer bottles high.

Wallen brought Fulcher back to the stage to perform a cover of Brooks and Dunn’s “Play Something Country,” keeping the crowd enthusiastic. His set took a step away from country music for a mash-up of songs including Linkin Park’s “In The End,” Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name,” and Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”

The crowd was also treated to a handful of unreleased songs that are expected to be on Wallen’s upcoming album. The songs matched his spunky personality ranging from the topics of football to trying to get an ex-lover back.  Songs like “Whiskey Glasses,” “Little Rain” and his version of “You Make It Easy” (written by Wallen and recently released by Jason Aldean) were placed perfectly throughout the set to slow the mood down and give the audience a chance to truly focus on the lyrics.

The show ended with Wallen’s current hit single, “Up Down.” The song has a swampy guitar sound that goes with the lyrics about fishing and drinking. This last one was clearly a crowd favorite as the singing along echoed back to Wallen throughout the entirety of the song.

At the end of the night, each artist took time to meet fans, take photos, and sign autographs at the back of the venue. While each of these acts’ music careers is just beginning, the show provided a promising insight into what is ahead. Fans left the evening still excited and prepared to purchase a ticket for the next time these acts are in town.

Tyler Farr and Raelynn will play The Bluestone January 20th for Columbus Cares A Night of Music to benefit St Judes. Tickets are on sale now at www.liveathebluestone.com

Artists at The Bluestone - Columbus Ohio

Tyler Farr at The Bluestone January 20th 2017

“Maybe I’m addicted to pain…What used to be, what’s gone.

There’s definitely some darkness,
but it’s hard to explain, though everybody knows it.
“Probably I’m a hopeless romantic,
but sex can make that complicated, too.
“You know you want to be in love, but that’s a tricky thing to find.”

Tyler Farr’s a thinker, an observer of the human condition, a man in the middle of a surging testosterone country movement in today’s Nashville who insists on digging a little deeper, getting a little realer and owning how hard it can be. On Suffer In Peace, the son of a Garden City, Missouri farmer opens his veins and examines the pain that comes from being truly engaged with living.

From the wracked hangover of what you don’t see coming in love “Withdrawals,” the smoky acoustic “I Don’t Even Want This Beer” or the spare run-from-the-memories title track, the classically-trained vocalist knows that love isn’t just hard, it’s risky. With a resonant tenor that has a powdery bottom and a warm center, Farr heats up difficult emotions and peels back what most men barricade behind bravado.

I loved writing the song with Nicolle Galyon and Jimmy Robbins and having their perspectives, too. We all come from our own love triangles, I guess you could say. I’m so proud of this song; it’s my favorite song I’ve ever written.”She will be joining labelmate Blake Shelton for his 2016 Tour Presented by Gildan® kicking off in his home state with a two-night stand in Oklahoma City, OK on Sept. 9-10.

Chris Janson The Bluestone - Columbus Ohio

Chris Janson to headline Wcol Winter Wonder Jam at The Bluestone Dec 16th 2016

Chris Janson will rock The Bluestone Stage with special guest High Valley and LanCo December 16 2016. Ticket will go on sale for Chris Janson November 23 at 10 AM. Visit www.liveatthebluestone.com for event info and tickets. This will be Chris Jansons’ First visit to the Bluestone stage.

NASHVILLE, TN – (June 30, 2016) – With his heartfelt single “Holdin’ Her” impacting the sales and singles charts, singer-songwriter Chris Janson continues to add milestones to his career.

Last week he made a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville to get a personal tour of the ACM Gallery exhibit which contains an entire case filled with Janson items. Each piece of memorabilia played a part in his rise to stardom including boots worn since his early days when he first arrived in Nashville and played shows at Tootsie’s, a Bocephus T shirt, his signature Fender harmonica and a guitar he paid $25 for and calls “the best investment I ever made.” It’s a vintage Yamaha guitar signed by Merle Haggard that Janson wrote all of the songs for his debut album “Buy Me A Boat” on and every song he’s had recorded by other artists.

“Being part of this exhibit is a top three musical achievement of my career,” said Janson. “It’s right up there with playing on the Grand Ole Opry and having my songs played on country radio.”

Janson is also the latest celebrity face to don the walls of Nashville’s famed restaurant, the Palm. Janson’s caricature is featured amongst a variety of other musicians, actors, politicians, athletes, executives, regular customers and people of note, as well as classic cartoons. “I eat there a lot,” says Janson. “My go-to is the Power Lunch — Steak, onion strings and a wedge salad. Oh and cheesecake plain.”

In addition to his current single “Holdin” Her,” look for more Janson penned songs on the charts soon as Tim McGraw just announced his next single “That’s How I’ll Always Be” and earlier this year, LoCash’s single “I Love This Life.”

Brian Davis Live

David Adam Byrnes:

With the help of Ray Scott’s band, David Adam Byrnes got the party started at The Bluestone Friday night, April 10th. Brynes, a talented entertainer with a big voice and the stage presence of a headlining act, featured many songs from his upcoming EP. He also covered “Unwound” by George Straight (Brynes’ favorite singer), “Pickup Man” by Joe Diffie, and a countrified portion of Sir Mix-a lot’s “Baby Got Back” (something Byrnes saw Joe Nicholas do when he opened for him). Brynes was able to keep the crowd captivated throughout his set by featuring his soaring voice in songs like his ballad, “She Only Wanted Flowers,” and by getting the crowd to sing along on upbeat songs like “Alcoholiday,” his just-released single.

Ray Scott:

With his deep voice and Johnny Cash inspired lyrics, Ray Scott started out his set with his song “Gotta Quit Drinkin’.” Throughout the evening Scott told the stories behind the songs he has written and the music that inspires him. With his wit and sing-speak style, Scott delivered some of his most popular songs including the pickup-line centered “Those Jeans” and the self-deprecating “The Ugly One.” He also performed a praiseworthy cover of “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash.  Scott engaged the audience by playing songs out of his diverse catalog. His song selection spanned from his current single, “Ain’t Always Thirsty,” to the song, “Plowboy,” which Scott describes as the song that got him his first record deal.

 Brain Davis:

If one thing can be taken from this Friday night concert, it’s that Brain Davis knows how to throw a party. Davis, who stated to the rowdy crowd that he had been “dying, counting down the seconds to be back in this room [The Bluestone],” started off his set with an array of his upbeat, drinking-style songs. Davis rocked the stage with his songs like “Hurt Like Hell Yeah,” “County Line Crossers,” “Long Line of Wrong,” and “I Earned This Beer.” He slowed things down with his song, “Against the World,” a ballad that he described as “close to his heart.”

One of the highlights of the evening is when Davis performed a set just featuring a box drum, strums on a guitar, and his voice. The softer music allowed for the showcasing of the power and slight rasp of Davis’s voice.  In this set he performed noteworthy covers of Eric Church’s “Springsteen,” Blake Shelton’s “Sure Be Cool If You Did,” and Kenny Chesney’s “Back Where I come From” with inserts of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.”

After the stripped-down set, Davis returned to his stronghold of upbeat, rocking music. Throughout the evening he proved to be at the level of some of Country Music’s top hit makers. With a style similar to chart-toppers, Brantley Gilbert and Eric Church, Davis showcased his arena-ready songs and charisma to The Bluestone crowd.
